90 percent of Spanish businessmen have expressed their interest in remaining in Mexico and 50 percent have stated that they want to expand their operations, which is a sign of confidence in the Mexican economy, said yesterday the first vice president of Spain, Carlos Corpo Caballero.
He considered that Plan Mexico constitutes an essential context for his country’s investment in the national territory to advance, and expressed his government’s desire to take advantage of the modernized global agreement that the Sheinbaum administration recently signed with the European Union.
In a press conference, the official from the Iberian Peninsula prepared an assessment of his visit to Mexican lands and highlighted that it was very productive and with tangible results, as the strategic relationship between both parties was reinforced, both on an institutional, business and commercial level.
The Minister of Economy, Commerce and Business also highlighted the meetings he had with the Secretaries of the Treasury, Economy and Energy, since one more step has been taken to finalize the agreed commitments.
Corporal Caballero added that ambitious objectives have been set, such as doubling bilateral trade between now and 2030, which currently amounts to 10 billion euros per year.
He also pointed out that in the business field, the meetings were a success, since Mexican businessmen expressed their interest in increasing their investments in the Iberian nation and the Spanish also want to invest in Mexico.
The official recalled a survey carried out among businessmen in his country, according to which 90 percent are interested in remaining in the Mexican economy and more than 50 percent want to expand their operations.
Noting that bilateral investment currently reaches 100 billion euros, the minister emphasized that Plan Mexico will open many participation opportunities for Spanish companies in key sectors, such as energy and digitalization.
In return, he expressed his desire that Mexican capitalists continue to be relevant participants. Right now they are the main Latin American investors in Spain, he stressed.
On the other hand, he estimated that the Soccer World Cup will be a success, since Mexico has always been up to the task in organizing this type of competition. He recalled that he has two World Cups behind him, 1970 and 1986.
He noted that King Felipe VI will be in the inaugural game of the Spanish team, which will be played in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
