Austria’s philanthropists are joining forces

On Wednesday, June 10th, the Fundraising Association Austria and the Association for Non-Profit Foundations invited people to the House of Philanthropy. The occasion is the starting signal for the new “Philanthropy Initiative”. For this purpose, local philanthropists joined forces with around twenty organizations and associations to promote more charitable commitment in Austria. Samira Rauter from Herztraum Immobilien and investor Siegfried Stepke gave insights into what makes philanthropic giving for common good causes possible and presented together Ruth Williams (Fundraising Association Austria) and Günther Lutschinger (Association for Non-Profit Foundations) the initiative.

The shared belief is that the growing societal challenges – even against the backdrop of increasingly scarce public resources – can only be sustainably overcome with a strong civil society and cross-sector cooperation. The philanthropists emphasize that, in addition to the indispensable small and medium-sized donations from the population, larger philanthropic contributions are becoming increasingly important in the Austrian donation structure.
