UAE will deny access to social networks to teenagers under 15 years old

A user’s declaration of age is no longer an acceptable method of verification. Platforms are required to provide mechanisms to determine the age of users with high accuracy while maintaining standards for protecting the privacy of children and their personal data.

Platforms are also required to monitor and block accounts of children under 15 years of age. Otherwise, they risk being blocked.

There is a 12 month transition period to fulfill the requirements.

It should be noted that the law restricting children’s access to social networks was adopted back in December 2025. The new government decree establishes implementation mechanisms.
