Bitter bankruptcy of a well-known pizzeria

Sea AQUA was about the Seidl u. Zahlmayer Gesellschaft mbHthe operator of the Pizzeria Fiorino, based on Praterstrasse in Vienna, opened insolvency proceedings. According to the company compass, the restaurant had 17 employees at its best. The company is already closed.

The debts

There is no information yet about the amount of current debt. In 2024, the accumulated loss was 329,100 euros, the negative equity was 292,000 euros and the liabilities were 236,800 euros.

That’s what the landlord says about the end

“Over all these years it has been a pleasure for us to cook for you, toast with you and welcome you to my restaurant. But the last few years have been difficult for the catering industry in general – and for the Fiorino in particular. I would like to explain to you why I made the decision to close with a heavy heart,” writes the innkeeper. “With Corona, our guests’ going out behavior changed fundamentally – there was no recovery like we had hoped for. When purchasing prices and energy costs exploded with the war in Ukraine, I was faced with an impossible choice: either I pass on these costs to my guests – or I bear them myself. I have borne a large part of them myself. However, an economically sensible calculation has hardly been possible since then.”

And it continues: “The renovation of Praterstrasse in 2023 and 2024 hit us hard: the guest garden, which gave us so many beautiful summer evenings, was severely affected for a long time. Personnel costs rose by almost 20 percent in just two years, and the rent was also increased significantly. And most recently, the situation in the Middle East caused a noticeable reluctance among our guests – all developments over which I had no influence.”
