Apple filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the company of stealing trade secrets

Apple has filed a lawsuit in California federal court against OpenAI, accusing the ChatGPT developer of illegally using trade secrets when creating its own artificial intelligence devices, Bloomberg reports.

The lawsuit also names former Apple employees Tan Tan and Chang Liu.

Apple alleges that OpenAI solicited employees and candidates previously employed by Apple to submit confidential information, including technical documents and information about products in development.

The lawsuit alleges that job candidates were asked to bring parts and components to interviews for demonstration, and that former Apple employees downloaded internal technical materials. Apple says OpenAI’s hardware business relies on misappropriated trade secrets.

OpenAI has denied the allegations. In a comment to Bloomberg, the company said: “We are not interested in the secrets of other companies.”
