Lego better than expected, net profit +32% in the first half

Lego, Danish company, world leader in the production of toys, recorded “better than expected” results in the first six months of the year: this was declared by its CEO to AFP on the occasion of the presentation of the half-yearly balance sheet.

The budget for the first semester

“The first half was better than expected in all our sectors,” he said Niels Christiansen, which expects double-digit growth for the full year 2026. The family-owned company reported a 32% increase in net profit, reaching 8.6 billion Danish kroner (115 million euros). Revenue grew by 26%, at constant exchange rates, to 41.9 billion Danish kroner (5.6 billion euros).

Retail sales increased 22% across all markets. “We are reporting profits above our forecast at the beginning of the year,” Christiansen said. “The first half was more positive than expected in all our divisions. So it’s not about one market, one product, one theme or one segment in particular,” he stressed.

The percentage of renewable and recycled materials purchased and used for the production of the famous plastic bricks has increased, Lego highlighted in a note, without providing precise figures. This choice had no impact on the price of the toys. Similarly, the surge in prices of oil, a key component of plastic, did not affect the price of bricks. “We can manage them; they don’t compromise profitability… our growth helps us. Because when you grow faster, you have opportunities to make better use of the plants, to be more productive,” Christiansen emphasized.
