Keskifinomainen’s result fell – The lack of elections is heavy compared to the comparison period

Working in the communications industry Central Finland operational comparable operating profit was EUR 3.3 million in January–June. At the same time last year, the result was 8.1 million euros. The company’s operational comparable operating profit margin was 3.3 percent.

The company’s turnover fell to 101 million euros. In January–June last year, turnover was 109 million euros.

Keskisuomainen’s profit per share was EUR 0.57. A year earlier, earnings per share were EUR 0.69.

Keskisuomalainen expects the turnover for the financial year 2026 to remain at the same level or to decrease slightly compared to the financial year 2025 and to be 200–205 million euros. The operational comparable operating profit is estimated to remain at a good level and be 9–11 million euros, states the company’s press release.

Keskisuomalainen issued a profit warning on Monday, in which guidance forks were given for the entire year’s turnover and comparable operating profit. The company expects this year’s turnover to be 200-205 million euros and operational comparable profit to be 9-11 million euros.

Inderesin is the only analyst following the company Arttu Heikura said after the earnings warning that after the earnings warning, forecasts have been calculated. Inderes’ profit forecast was published before the profit warning, and in it Inderes expected a turnover of 101 million euros and an adjusted operating profit of 5.4 million euros for the six-month period.

The company believes that the positive and profitable business will continue for the rest of the year as well, CEO Vesa-Pekka Kangaskorpi states in the announcement. According to him, the group is developing its artificial intelligence capabilities, modernizing its products and expanding its podcast productions, among other things.

Keskifinnoinen’s result and turnover at the beginning of the year were particularly weighed down by the absence of election sales. Last year’s municipal and welfare district elections brought significant advertising revenue to the company, which was completely absent in the review period.

At the end of March, the company bought the entire stock of Arena Interactive, which specializes in multi-channel customer communication. With the acquisition, Keskisuomalainen aims to strengthen its digital business and diversify its media portfolio.

During the beginning of the year, Keskisuomalainen launched a new national sports media as a pilot. Based on the demand for the product, the product called Meksi Urheilumedia is becoming a permanent part of the company’s media product selection.
