Barilla announces acquisition of Gal Gadot’s pasta brand

Italian concern Barilla, the world’s largest pasta manufacturer, is acquiring the American brand of mac and cheese Goodles, which was founded by Israeli actress Gal Gadot.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. It is also not clear whether the actress will participate in the future life of the brand.

Gadot founded Goodles with husband Yaron in October 2020 as a healthier alternative to traditional mac and cheese in the American market.

Following completion of the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, Goodles will continue to operate as a standalone brand and will maintain its headquarters in Santa Cruz, California. CEO and co-founder Jen Zesoth will remain at the helm of the company and its team of 73 employees.

Barilla Chairman Guido Barilla said the company had been looking at Goodles for a long time and was impressed by the strength of the brand, product quality and growth dynamics.
