The Hard Rock Café on Innsbruck’s Maria-Theresien-Strasse is about to go out of business. The operating company HRC IBK Betriebs GmbH has filed a new insolvency application at the Innsbruck regional court. 31 employees are affected by the threatened closure.
This is the second bankruptcy for the company in a short period of time. HRC IBK Betriebs GmbH was founded in 2016 and operates the Hard Rock Café in Innsbruck as a franchisee of the international chain. The restaurant is one of the best-known restaurants in the Tyrolean capital.
Sales fell by a fifth
The company only became insolvent at the beginning of 2025, when it agreed on a restructuring plan with its creditors. But the agreed installments can no longer be paid, as the management admits in the current insolvency application. The restructuring measures were not sufficient to sustainably overcome the economic difficulties.
The company cites a massive drop in sales as the reason for the renewed failure. In the period from July to September 2026, revenues were around 20 percent below the comparable values of the previous year. This was due to a prolonged period of heat and cautious consumer behavior as a result of inflation.
“Closure is imminent”
Klaus Schaller from KSV1870 expects it to end soon: “I expect that the company will be closed soon after the bankruptcy is declared. This is very unfortunate for the 31 employees affected.”
