For Easter lunch Italians will spend 2.5 billion

Italians will spend 2.5 billion euros for Easter lunch. The average budget per person is around 40 euros, which will rise to 50 euros for those who choose a restaurant. It is the same figure as last year for 56% of Italians, 27% spend a higher percentage, 17% opt for savings compared to 2023. This is what emerges from the traditional survey carried out by Ipsos for Contributions on the occasion of the holidays Easter. The survey shows that 65% of Italians will celebrate Easter with a lunch at their own or relatives’ home, 12% will celebrate the occasion in a restaurant, 9% will travel. Followed at 4% are both celebrations at friends’ houses and those in a park or outdoors.

 

On Italian tables there will be no shortage of chocolate eggs, present for 68% of Italians with an average of three eggs each, doves (65%), seasonal vegetables and cured meats (both 48%), grilled meats ( 42%), boiled eggs and traditional local preparations (36%), lamb for 34% as well as traditional savory pizzas, sweet pizzas (22%) and vegan dishes for 7%.

 

Those celebrating with their families will be mainly residents of the Islands (71%), the North East (70%), the Center (64%) and the North West (62%). The south closes the ranking with around six out of ten Italians (61%).

 

As regards the celebration of Easter at a restaurant or in a public establishment, Italians living in the south lead the way with 18%. Followed by the North West with 11%, the Center and the North East with 10% and the Islands with 8%. For Easter Monday, however, only one Italian in three (34%) will have lunch at their own or relatives’ homes, 16% will be on a trip out of town, 13% in a park, 12% at a friend’s house, 9% at the restaurant and 5% while travelling.
