Easter chocolate: despite the rise in prices, the French have not restricted themselves

Despite inflation, the French have not abandoned the egg hunt this year. According to data published by NielsenIQ France this Friday, chocolate consumption for Easter increased by 0.5% this year, despite an average increase in the price per kilo estimated at 6.5%.

Between Easter 2023 and Easter 2024, the world price of Cocoa increased by 162%, due to global warming and in particular the El Niño storm, which hit Africa hard. At the beginning of March, the chocolatier Lindt announced a price increase of 5% in 2024, a year after increasing them by 10%.

Ferrero Rocher in the lead

This year, chocolates for “adults”, whose prices increased by 3%, sold better than chocolates for children, which increased by 7%.

Ferrero Rocher tops sales with nearly 420 tonnes sold, followed by the famous Lindt rabbits sold at 272 tonnes, and Kinder Schokobons, with 229 tonnes sold.
