Electric car maker Tesla announced layoffs of 2,688 workers

Electric vehicle maker Tesla announced plans to lay off 2,688 workers from its Texas plant.

The notice of the upcoming layoffs was issued under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act (Warn Act), which requires a company with more than a hundred workers to provide 60 days’ notice of a planned closure or mass layoff.

Tesla’s notice states that layoffs will begin on June 14.

Note that at the beginning of the month, investor and CEO of Tesla Elon Musk announced that on August 8, an unmanned taxi would be presented to consumers.
