Many Vietnamese cargo vehicles are detained in China

Due to contract disputes and substandard goods preservation, from last year until now, more than 100 Vietnamese cargo trucks have been stored in China.

In a document sent to provincial business associations today, the Lao Cai Economic Zone Management Board warned that the number of Vietnamese vehicles detained in Hekou (China) is increasing.

Statistics show that from 2023 to now, there have been over 100 Vietnamese transport vehicles detained in China. The reason according to the Lao Cai Economic Zone Management Board is that the driver did not properly carry out his responsibility to preserve goods, causing damage to product quality. Therefore, the two sides could not agree on compensation and the vehicle was kept from leaving the country. In addition, the two sides’ businesses also had a number of other disputes in the implementation of the contract, so the Chinese side kept the car and requested compensation in cash.

The Lao Cai Economic Zone Management Board said that Vietnamese authorities are actively coordinating to resolve and resolve the above problem. However, up to now, this situation has not been thoroughly resolved.

This agency recommends that Vietnamese and Chinese businesses need to agree on specific terms and records in contracts to build a healthy business environment. At the same time, Vietnamese businesses need to improve product quality to protect the reputation of exported goods.

In 2023, import and export activities of goods, especially agricultural products through Lao Cai international border gate, will be vibrant. The value of imported and exported goods through border gates increased by 39% over the same period in 2022, reaching 2 billion USD.

In the first months of this year, China increased imports of Vietnamese agricultural products. Many agricultural products’ export turnover doubled over the same period in the first 3 months of the year, of which the sharpest increase was durian. In the near future, when frozen coconuts and durians are officially exported, export turnover through Lao Cai is forecast to increase, expected to reach 4.5 billion USD.
