Over the spring long weekends, over 17 million travelers with Trenitalia

More than 17 million people will travel with Trenitalia during the spring long weekends linked to the holidays of April 25th and May 1st and almost half – 47% – have purchased the ticket through digital channels (+5 % compared to 2023 purchases on site and App). The bookings recorded by the company led by Luigi Corradi and leader of the Passenger Hub of the FS Group highlight a growth of 2.5% compared to last year and confirm the conscious choice of Italians who increasingly use the train, a green way par excellence, for their travels. Cities of art such as Florence, Naples, Rome and Venice drive bookings both for those traveling on long-distance trains – Frecce and Intercity – and for those who choose Trenitalia Regionale. Among the most popular foreign destinations reachable from Italy is Switzerland. Puglia, Liguria, Sicily and Calabria are the regions chosen by those who want to go to the seaside. The number of travelers to the villages is growing.

Frecciarossa, Made in Italy excellence, increases its connections and available seats to offer an even more frequent and convenient service to its passengers during the spring long weekends. On 25 and 28 April and 1 May, along the Adriatic coast, two additional connections will be activated between Milan and Pescara (and vice versa). On the days of highest demand, between 25 April and 2 June, new extraordinary departures are scheduled for some Frecciarossa trains traveling between Milan, Rome and Naples, and trains in double composition: a solution that allows us to double the seats available for the travelers. On 24 and 28 April and 1 May, the night Frecciarossa trains will also return between Milan and Calabria (and vice versa) to be able to travel at night and reach the chosen destination early in the morning. Furthermore, from 20 April to 5 May, 2 FrecciaLink connections will be made available – the service created with dedicated buses in connection with the Frecce – to and from Pompeii and Sorrento, with departures from Milan, Reggio Emilia AV, Bologna, Florence and Rome . With FrecciaLink you can also reach some of the most beautiful art cities in Italy: Perugia and Assisi with departures from Turin, Milan, Reggio Emilia AV, Bologna and Venice; Potenza and Matera, with departures from Turin, Milan, Reggio Emilia AV, Bologna, Florence, Rome and Naples. From 24 April to 5 May, Intercity Notte – the solution that allows you to travel at night and reach your destination early in the morning – will make over 2,700 additional seats available for those traveling long distances on the Turin-Salerno routes , Turin-Lecce and Milan-Lecce. Italians choose Regional trains to visit cities of art.

Among the favorite destinations, in addition to Florence, Naples, Rome and Venice, also La Spezia, the perfect stopover to reach the Cinque Terre, Pisa, Padua and Genoa, to which are added Pompeii and the Royal Palace of Caserta. The villages are increasingly appreciated: Cortona, Montepulciano and San Gimignano in Tuscany; Urbino, Fermo and Pesaro in the Marche; Narni, Spoleto, Orvieto and Assisi in Umbria; Ostuni, Molfetta, Polignano a Mare and Lecce in Puglia; Taormina and Syracuse in Sicily. There is also a rich offer of Trenitalia Regional Links which, thanks to the combined train+bus sale, allows you to reach destinations not served by train and offers numerous travel opportunities for these spring holidays. Trenitalia has integrated “Ecopassenger” into its sales systems: an application that allows you to compare the energy consumption and CO2 emissions of a train journey compared to the same journey made by other means. In this way, travelers will be able to know, when purchasing the ticket, the lower environmental impact of the various ways of travelling. Attention to the environment is one of the variables that guides the choice of carrier. According to a SWG survey for Trenitalia, in fact, 86% of travelers say they choose the train because it is less polluting.
