UnifiedPost reacts negatively to Marc Coucke's proposal to dismiss chairman

UnifiedPost Group has responded mainly negatively to major shareholder Marc Coucke’s proposal to dismiss the chairman and appoint four new directors.

On Monday it was announced that Coucke, who controls more than 17 percent of UnifiedPost through his holding company Alychlo, is demanding change at the company that specializes in electronic invoicing processes. According to Coucke, UnifiedPost has underperformed in recent years, which was reflected in a sharp decline in the stock price. The well-known businessman proposed the appointment of four new directors and asked that the chairman resign.

Shareholders can vote on May 21, but the company’s board of directors already advises against voting, according to a press release. For example, questions are being asked about the independence of directors such as Jürgen Ingels and Joris Van Der Gucht. Neutral advice was only issued regarding the appointment of Pieter Bourgeois.

In addition, the board announced that exclusive negotiations are underway regarding the sale of 21Grams. That company has 89 employees, is active in Sweden, Denmark and Norway and achieved revenues of 83.2 million euros last year.
