Meeting between management and unions to avoid a strike at Charleroi airport on Thursday

The unions and the management of Charleroi airport (BSCA) will hold further talks on Wednesday “to try to find a solution and avoid the strike planned for Thursday”. The head of communications at BSCA confirmed this after a meeting between the parties on Tuesday evening.

Charleroi airport staff announced on Tuesday afternoon that they would strike on Thursday. This is expected to cause major disruption at the airport. More than 17,500 departing passengers and 94 flights would be affected.

Another meeting between management and the unions took place on Tuesday evening. This has yielded nothing so far. The parties continued negotiations on Wednesday morning.

“A long meeting took place tonight between the unions and management and further discussions are already planned tomorrow morning to try to find a solution and avoid a strike,” Nathalie Pierard, BSCA’s head of communications, said in an email shortly after midnight.
