Globes: Turkish ports have been ordered to stop sending cargo to Israel

According to the Israeli publication Globes, Turkish ports have been ordered to stop sending cargo to the ports of Haifa and Ashdod, and the unloading of cargo arriving from Israel has also been stopped.

Bloomberg.com wrote, citing two high-ranking sources in Turkey, that Ankara has stopped trade relations with Israel.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is violating the agreements by blocking spoilage for Israeli imports and exports. “This is exactly how a dictator behaves, ignoring the interests of his people and Turkish entrepreneurs, ignoring international trade agreements,” wrote Katz in his X-blog. The Foreign Minister also said that he ordered the director general of his department to begin, together with other departments, to search for an alternative to trade with Turkey, focusing on local producers and imports from other countries.

Note that in early April, Globes reported that Turkish companies exporting goods to Israel cannot pay export duties on the Turkish customs website.

According to Globes, there are no alternative payment methods and the failure is only issued in connection with exports to Israel. As a result of the current situation, cargo ships serving trade routes between Israel and Turkish ports cannot go to sea.
