Campari acquires French cognac brand Courvoisier for a billion euros

Italian spirits group Campari has completed the acquisition of French cognac brand Courvoisier. Campari paid 1.08 billion euros, good for the largest transaction in its history.

Campari entered into exclusive negotiations for the acquisition of Courvoisier in December 2023 with its then owner, the American spirits group Beam Suntory. These resulted in an agreement in February. Campari may pay an additional 112 million euros in 2029 if certain sales targets are achieved.

Campari was founded in 1860. In 1995, acquisitions started, with which the Italian company grew into a multinational with a presence in more than 190 countries and with around fifty brands in its portfolio, such as Aperol, Grand Marnier and Picon.
