There is no blacksmith of your own luck, says the American Nobel laureate economist Joseph E. Stiglitz. An ideal society taxes and coerces, because otherwise harm can come from freedom. Finns got into Stiglitz’s new book as eager tax payers.

When American Nobel laureate economist Joseph E. Stiglitz speaks for taxation and against neoliberalism, let Finns act as mannequins.

In his recent book, Stiglitz refers to Finns’ tax payments: in Finland, 95 percent of people feel that paying taxes is their civic duty, and 79 percent are happy to fulfill their obligations.
