The Iraqi government discusses the implications of the recent rain wave

On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani chaired a meeting devoted to discussing the effects of the recent rain wave, in the presence of the Ministers of Interior and Trade, the Mayor of Baghdad, the General Coordinator for Governorate Affairs, the Deputy Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations. And a number of officials in several ministries.
A statement from the media office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, a copy of which was obtained by Al-Khaleej, stated that “Al-Sudani was briefed, during the meeting, on a detailed position on what the recent rains caused, whether at the service level or related to its effects on agricultural lands,” stressing, “This The meeting was held in order to know and accurately assess the damage and work to contain and address it.”
He explained, “The coincidence of the rainfall with harvesting operations and the government’s service projects that it initiated has doubled the challenges facing them.”

Harvesting operations

Al-Sudani also reviewed the situation regarding harvesting, marketing and grain storage operations, the water situation in the dams, and the measures taken in this aspect to take advantage of the rain waves to enhance water storage and utilize it properly.
During the meeting, the Iraqi Minister of Interior reviewed a report containing the measures taken by the Ministry’s National Center for Crisis and Disaster Management regarding the recent rains.
In this regard, Al-Sudani directed, “to continue the mobilization of service and relief efforts for those affected by the flood waves,” stressing, “the necessity of redoubling special efforts to market grains.” Because of the weather conditions that Iraq is witnessing.”
