The Ministry of Economy will receive data on profitability in the food market, but will not be able to publish it

Importers and producers in the food market withdrew their claim to the Supreme Court against the Ministry of Economy and agreed to transfer data on the profitability of their products to the price inspector at the ministry.

However, having received this data, the inspector will not be able to publish it, since it constitutes a trade secret. Within the scope of his position, the price inspector will only be able to use them to determine excessive profitability in a particular market segment.

Since there are currently no criteria for excessive profitability in Israeli law, the Ministry of Economy will first have to define this concept.

After this, the ministry will be able to contact the inter-ministerial price commission and try to convince the Ministry of Finance of the need to include goods in the list of goods whose pricing is controlled by the state.
