The Israeli model and the girlfriend of Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, jumped on a visit to Israel for photos of a lingerie brand and told about life in Madrid, the anti-Semitism she experienced, the leap in her career and the relationship with Courtois’ two children: “I am like a second mother to them, we are family”
“I have no complaints,” Mishel Gerzig announces with a wide smile on the set of footwear for the Pix lingerie brand, and after a brief conversation with the Israeli model, who became international overnight thanks to her relationship with Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, we can certainly understand that. “It’s fun. With all the flights, trips and work – time really passes quickly.”
It’s been a year since the model started dating Courtois. Since then she has managed to move to live in Madrid and even found the resemblance to Tel Aviv. “Madrid is amazing, I must say it reminds me a bit of Tel Aviv, just without the sea, there is an atmosphere and amazing and warm people and it feels like home.” And not only the transition, Mishel Gerzig, which has become a household name, has begun to pick up campaigns, star in the gossip columns in Israel and around the world – and of course catch some fire. In Spain, she says, there are those who are not happy that Courtois is dating an Israeli girl, while here in Israel – she receives complaints that her partner is not local: “There is a man here and there is a man there, what do we do? No one is happy.”
In addition to criticizing the couple, in an interview, Mishel Gerzig talked about dealing with anti-Semitism, but despite the harsh accusations leveled at her, she does not intend to give up the information campaign. “People do not see with their eyes. They do not care about human life, only that you are from Israel and that is it, no matter if you are good or bad and come out on me and threaten me, all supporters of Palestine and ‘you are killing children’ and ‘your country is shocking’.
