“Sailor and Pekka are doing something in the city” is the picture book hit of the winter

Hardly any plot, no punch lines and characters that look like they were drawn by a primary school child: about the glory of Jockum Nordström’s “Sailor and Pekka are doing something in the city”.

What is this strange thing, what is this irritating, beautiful, heartwarming, absolutely and completely special thing? A picture book, definitely. But what pictures. Scribbled, but not without effort, the chubby Sailor looks like he was drawn by a primary school child. He’s half-naked looking for his sweater, can’t find it, and so sets off into town to buy a new one. Together with his dog Pekka, who has been wanting to have the cloud-like woolly hair shaved off his head for a long time. At the hairdresser, of course, he says, because Pekka can speak and is wearing a smart blue one-piece with a white collar.
