Tate McRae and Jewish hockey star Jack Hughes in a relationship

After months of dating rumors, Canadian pop star Tate McRae’s romantic status with Olympic champion Jewish-American hockey player Jack Hughes has been revealed. The source of the details told US Weekly magazine Because “they started meeting in a non-committal way at the end of last year, so it’s still new, but right now they’re only dating each other.”

According to the same source, 22-year-old McRae and 24-year-old Hughes connected after the athlete “initially sent her a message on Instagram and started a conversation.” He also added that she thinks Hughes “is a really cool guy, and they have a lot of fun together. She is very supportive of his career and likes to come to the games and cheer him on.”

The name of McRae, who broke out with songs that became hits on TikTok and beyond – alongside provocative clips that were even described as “porn”, and the name of the hockey star, were first linked in December 2025. The star arrived at one of the central striker’s games in New Jersey, after which they were already seen walking around New York together, and it seems that they have continued the trend of getting closer.

“They’re making it work despite the busy season, but hope to have more time together next month when his season ends,” another source told the magazine. “Tate thinks he’s really sweet, and so far it’s going well,” he added.

This is not the first time McCrae has had a publicized affair in general or with a hockey star in particular. In 2024, she dated for over a year, in a very high-profile relationship, with Australian rapper The Kid Laroy. A year earlier, her relationship with Canadian hockey player Cole Sillinger came to an end after two years.

Her new partner, they only say, recorded a historic Olympic achievement last month when he secured the gold medal for the US team in ice hockey at the Winter Olympics in Milan.
