The 40-year-old singer once again put on her fishnet stockings, heels and tight black dress to reprise this role of murderess hungry for glory in the musical “Chicago”, which has been playing since November 7 at the Casino de Paris (9th arrondissement). The star of the 2000s had been absent since mid-December for health reasons. “Shy’m has been performing the shows since Friday. Everything went well, so she continues with joy,” says those close to the production.

“I’m back!!!! Happiness. Joy. Gratitude. I found my team. I found Velma,” announces the interpreter of “Woman of Color” in a message posted Saturday on her Instagram account, with a photo of her in full performance. In one story, we see her in her dressing room, smiling and looking mischievous, nibbling a biscuit. “Happiness…” she breathes. Before asking: “Vanessa, where are you?” I’m waiting for you! “. A message addressed to her accomplice, the actress Vanessa Cailhol, who plays Roxie Hart, the other major female role, in this French version of the legendary Broadway show.

A message on December 12

The news arrived in mid-December. “Dear friends, I am sad to announce that in accordance with the production of the show, I am forced to make the decision to stop temporarily, on the advice of the medical team. I’m sorry,” she wrote on December 12 on the musical’s social network.

She attempted a comeback at the end of January, with a test over two performances, before giving up. “I have to face the facts, I’m not ready. I still feel daily dizziness which prevents me from going on stage,” Shy’m confided in a long message posted on his Instagram account.

Shortly before the premiere, we met the singer, who confided how demanding the discipline of musical comedy was. “Everything seems easy, but it’s a constant, millimeter-precise job. We have to sing, stop, act, dance and no longer have any breath at the end but sing right after, she explained. It’s very demanding, you have to be in the moment every second. And in character, from start to finish.”

And a Molière?

Plunging into the underbelly of Chicago in the 1920s where lies, betrayal and corruption reign, the show produced by Stage Entertainment France – to whom we also owe “The Lion King” in Paris – has been extended until May 17. He is nominated for the 37th Molières ceremony, which will be held on May 4 at the Folies Bergère (Paris IX), in the best musical show category. The game promises to be close, with the musical facing “La Cage aux Folles” with Laurent Lafitte and “La petite boutique des horreurs”, by Valérie Lesort and Christian Hecq.
