“I’m finally a grandmother”: the singer Cher revealed that she has a 15-year-old granddaughter

A month before she celebrates her 80th birthday, the singer Cher receives a gift she did not expect – a 15-year-old granddaughter who was kept a secret from the world.

The former model Katie Edwards, the granddaughter of Julie Andrews, told the tabloid “The Sun” that in 2010 she had a short affair with the son of Cher, Elijah Allman and became pregnant by him. According to her, Elijah was aware of the girl’s existence, and used to visit her secretly every few years but did not want to be a parent.

The secret was allegedly revealed in 2021 when Elijah suffered a drug overdose and confessed to his then wife about the girl. The rumor passed within the family and last year Cher contacted Edwards to find out if it was true. “She said she heard something about it from Elijah back in 2021, but didn’t know if it was just crazy talk,” said Edwards, adding: “When she heard the news, she was speechless and said: ‘My God, I’m finally a grandmother.'”

The report comes a day after it was revealed that Cher had asked the court to appoint a temporary guardian for Elijah following a series of financial, legal and drug addiction crises. In legal documents obtained by the “Daily Mail” magazine, the singer revealed that her son is now hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital and that his condition has deteriorated significantly since she first filed for guardianship. In the documents submitted by Sher it was described that her son owes about 18 thousand dollars to drug dealers and faces a cumulative tax debt of 200 thousand dollars.
