Juha Itkonen wonders about the name of Mari Karppinen’s upcoming book, because she already wrote a book of the same name in 2017

“This is nothing serious, and I don’t think that this will harm my work.”

He also hopes for a lot of success and readers for Mari Karppinen’s book, although he still wonders about the name given to it.

“Myself, when thinking about names, I Google whether a book with this name already exists. So do all the publishers I’ve worked with. And if you decide to give it exactly the same name as an existing book, then of course that’s a choice.”

“Juha Itkonen’s travel book and Karppinen’s book represent different subgenres, there are almost 10 years between the publications and the books are also visually completely different — by chance, the main title is the same, clear and generic My America. I don’t see the danger of confusion here — rather, it may be that readers will find both of these works on their reading list,” Lampela writes in an email to Helsingin Sanomat.

My America -the title type of books is actually quite common with texts where the author tells his own views and experiences about the country, city or continent in question.
