Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton seen at the foot of the Eiffel Tower for the filming of season 3 of “Wednesday”

She’s sullen, she’s gothic, and here she arrives in the City of Lights. Season 3 of “Wednesday,” Netflix’s global phenomenon, is filming in Paris this week. Netflix made it official this Monday, April 20 by publishing a photo of Jenna Ortega, still impassive in her leather suit, posing with her back to the Eiffel Tower, accompanied by a scathing caption: “From Paris, with fear”.

A few hours before this official announcement, images taken secretly had already started circulating on social networks. We saw the actress filming alongside Fred Armisen, who plays Uncle Fétidon, under the direction of Tim Burton himself, on the cobblestones of the banks of the Seine, in the heart of Paris. The legendary Fétidon motorcycle, with its sidecar, was also there. According to the What’s on Netflix site, filming in the capital began on April 18 and ended on April 20, just before Netflix’s official communication.

Behind the camera, Tim Burton himself directs these Parisian scenes, along with director of photography PJ Dillon. The production had temporarily left Ireland, where most of the filming of the series takes place, for this brief visit to the French capital. The clapperboard seen on the set indicates that it is scene V103, probably intended for the third episode of the season.

A plot still secret

Filming for this third season began last February. If the plot still remains largely secret, the end of season 2 left Wednesday on the trail of her friend Enid (Emma Myers), aboard the sidecar of Uncle Fétidon’s motorcycle on a chase which seems to lead to Paris. According to co-creator Miles Millar, this new season should also lift the veil on new secrets of the Addams family, particularly around the mysterious disappearance of Aunt Ophelia, played by Frenchwoman Eva Green.

The cast of this season 3 promises to be particularly extensive. At the end of February, Netflix revealed that Winona Ryder, Burton’s faithful collaborator since Edward Scissorhands, was joining the cast, alongside Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer. At the beginning of April, three new names further enriched the poster: Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), 80s icon Andrew McCarthy and James Lance (Ted Lasso). Fans of the series will also find Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Liuis Guzman as Gomez, as well as Joanna Lumley.

Season 3 of “Wednesday” is expected on Netflix in 2027.
