The future Angoulême comics festival entrusted to the organizer of Francofolies

The Morgane group, manager of the Francofolies de La Rochelle and the Printemps de Bourges, has been appointed to organize the future event dedicated to comics in Angoulême from 2027, the ADBDA association announced on Tuesday in a press release.

The project led by Marie Parisot, former executive of Dargaud Editions and Humanoids Associés, and Céline Bagot, founder of the Pop Women Festival in Reims, was selected by the Association for the Development of Comics in Angoulême (ADBDA), commissioned by the public authorities after the cancellation of the last festival.

The company 9e Art +, which had organized the current event for two decades, was ousted following a revolt by comic book authors against its management. Under contract until 2027, she launched legal action against the ADBDA.

The selected project, among four applications, “meets the expectations of the entire sector in terms of artistic standards, diversity of aesthetics” and “confirms the central place of authors”, affirms the association in its press release.

For the first time since its creation, outside the Covid period, the Angoulême international comics festival (FIBD) was canceled in 2026 and replaced by a “Grand Off” at the end of last January.
