Zayn Malik’s legendary ex confirms that he is getting along with Hadid

The love life of Zayn Malik (33) makes headlines, sometimes much more than his music career. this time? Hello from the relationship he had in the past with the “Little Mix” star. Malik and Perrie Edwards (32) were the power couple of the pop world. They met on the “X Factor” in 2011, dated for almost four years and even got engaged. But in the summer of 2015, Zayn called off the engagement and left Perrie “devastated, depressed and dysfunctional”, with close associates even claiming that he broke up with her via text message. A few months later, he had already moved on to the arms of supermodel Gigi Hadid.

Now, almost a decade later, Edwards was a guest on the Great Company podcast and decided it was time to air all the dirty laundry out there. “When you’re going through heartbreak, it’s just hell,” she shared. “You feel abandoned, and you feel like you’re not good enough, and you feel like they left you in favor of something better… When you move on with someone else, you always get along better. When you’re the one left behind, it’s hard there. Because it’s like, ‘Oh shit, they left me for someone prettier.'”

The host asked Perry about the exact timeline of her breakup and the beginning of Zayn’s romance with Gigi, and Perry confirmed what all fans have suspected for years: “Let’s just say there was a little bit… I’ll just say it – yes, there was a little bit of overlap.”

If that wasn’t painful enough, Perry addressed the straw that broke the camel’s back – the moment she saw Gigi starring alongside Zayn in the steamy music video for the song Pillowtalk, which was reportedly written about Perry herself shortly before the breakup. “You have a song written about you, but then someone else is in the music video. It was one thing after another. I remember finding out about it, and it was just the last nail in the coffin,” Edwards repeated the public humiliation.

Let’s recall that already in 2016 it was reported that Gigi was tired of Perry “dirtying” Zayn with revenge songs, and that she advised her to “grow up and get better.” Since Zayn and Gigi’s relationship, which produced their joint daughter Kai in 2020, has known countless breakups, rumors of an affair that Zayn was having on the side with a reality star, and came to an acrimonious end in 2021 after a (allegedly) violent physical confrontation between Zayn and Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. And if that’s not stinging enough, in an interview he gave to the podcast last February, Malik confessed that he “never had a crush on Gigi.”

But don’t think Perry has ended her podcast revenge spree here. Just after burying her legendary ex, she turned the spotlight on her former BFF, Little Mix bandmate Jessie Nelson. Nelson left the band in 2020, and since then made sure to whine in interviews that she didn’t get support from the girls. “What angers me the most is when the other person doesn’t take any responsibility. It makes my blood boil,” Edwards shot on the same podcast. “I’m not saying she’s some crazy monster… but take some responsibility for your actions and realize that you were problematic. You can’t pick someone up so many times before you lose your sanity.”

To close the story for good, Perry revealed that she actually wanted to rekindle the relationship, but the documentary Jessie released was too much for her. She concluded the interview with a sentence cutting off any chance of a comeback by the original band: “I can cut contact with you, I can forgive, but I don’t want you in my space.”
