La Jornada: 20 pieces in France valued at 4 million euros stolen from a jewelry museum

Moscow. Thieves attacked the Lalique jewelry and glass museum in the commune of Wingen-sur-Moder, in eastern France, stealing about 20 pieces of jewelry worth up to 4 million euros, RTL radio reported.

“Approximately 20 pieces of jewelry were stolen. The damage is still being assessed, but could amount to several million euros, probably around 4 million,” the station quoted a source close to the investigation as saying to Agence France-Presse.

The museum, dedicated to the memory of the French jeweler and decorator René Lalique, announced that the theft was committed early yesterday morning.

The institution added that it will remain closed while it prepares a safe reopening.
