Until August 16, Spanish cinema has accumulated a total of 64,292,228 euros in revenue and 9,278,245 spectators with ‘Torrente, Presidente’ at the top, according to data from the Ministry of Culture consulted by Europa Press.
Thus, Santiago Segura’s film represents 43.7% of the proceeds with 28,134,878 euros. It also accounts for 40.8% of the spectators who have attended theaters until this month of August – 3,788,030 people -.
It is the third consecutive year that the filmmaker takes first place: in 2025 he did so with ‘Padre no hay mas que uno 5’ and in 2024 with ‘Padre no hay mas que uno 4’.
Regarding this year, second place to date goes to ‘Aida y Return’, directed by Paco León, which has grossed 5,069,590 euros and 734,171 spectators. Thus, third and fourth place are occupied by ‘Grandmother tremendous’ and ‘Bitter Christmas’ with 2,814,177 euros and 2,604,157 euros, respectively.
Additionally, there are the films ‘The Beneton Family + 2’, ‘Rondallas’, ‘Making Friends’, ‘Tres de mas’, ‘Three Goodbyes’ and ‘Balandrau, Wild Wind’, which have grossed between one and two million euros.
On the other hand, ‘Los Domingos’, the film by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, is the only film released in 2025 that enters the top 20 positions by box office receipts and viewers. In 2026 it has added 997,454 euros, but in 2025 it accumulated 3,946,830 euros, with the total collection being 4,944,284 euros since its premiere.
Although there are still a little more than four months left until the end of 2026, the Spanish box office data seems to remain far from the figures from a decade ago, when 2016 closed with almost 110 million euros in revenue and 18.3 million viewers.
