After the invitation to the Berlin Theatertreffen, even more laurels for the Hans Otto Theater: ensemble member Guido Lambrecht has been named “Actor of the Year” 2026. The title is awarded annually by the specialist magazine “Theater Today”. 45 critics vote on their favorites in several categories.
Guido Lambrecht, whose five-hour solo “Serotonin” directed by Sebastian Hartmann already convinced the Berlin Theatertreffen jury, received eight votes, as the theater portal nachtkritik.de reports.
Guido Lambrecht, born in Dessau in 1968, has been in the ensemble of the Hans Otto Theater since 2018. In “Serotonin” he combines text passages from Michel Houellebecq’s novel of the same name with elements from his own biography: fragmentary stories of militarism, abuse, and the GDR past. The extremely reduced production, a chamber play and a physical feat of strength on the part of the actor, was celebrated as a “masterpiece of minimalism”.
Other awards also included Paulina Alpen as Actress of the Year, Annika Neugart as Young Actress and Jan-Christoph Gockel’s update of Friedrich Schiller’s “Wallenstein” at the Munich Kammerspiele as Production of the Year. “Theater of the Year” was the Munich Kammerspiele under director Barbara Mundel.
