Conservatism is dead, the conservatives have almost finished it off: by first ignoring it, then mocking it and finally refuting it with their government actions. It wasn’t just the Chancellor who, when he was finally elected leader of a partially conservative party, promised the Christian Democrats and the people as a whole more conservatism. And yet, when he finally became Chancellor, he allowed himself to be so shaken by bad news of all kinds (empty coffers, evil Trump, ruthless Israeli army) that he declared every time that the world was now a completely different place: What was valid yesterday is no longer relevant today. The opposite of a conservative attitude.
