The vocalist of the Norwegian group ‘a-ha’ (Sony Music), Morten Harket known for the song ‘Take on me’, has asked the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, to withdraw from the war against Ukraine, since it is the “easiest way” to conclude it and has stressed that the Russian leader and his society “are totally different things.”
“The people of Ukraine are fighting a war on behalf of everyone, Europe, the West and the free world. It is not that Russia has invaded Ukraine, but that they are waging a war on behalf of all of us“, defended the singer in an interview with Europa Press on the occasion of the release of his new album ‘True North’.
Harket has acknowledged that they have not had any problems due to the war when it comes to making the tour, although he has clarified that they have not gone for a long time “because of the actions of the Russian leaders.” “We’ve done the tour that we were supposed to do and it hasn’t taken us to Russia because we said ‘We’re not going’. We have told the Russian territories no for years and it is due to the actions of their leaders in recent years,” he revealed, before remarking that he “sympathizes” with the Russian people.
On the other hand, the group is making its debut, since this Friday, October 21, their new album ‘True North’ will go on sale, about which Harket has not wanted to reveal its main novelties. “The main thing is that they are new songs but whoever is interested in knowing what they are about should listen to them“, he stated.
This new album also has the “surprise” of a film that shows the band recording the songs in Bodo, the Norwegian city located 90 km above the Arctic Circle. “It took us a bit by surprise. At first it would be two or three songs and in the end it was the whole album but it is our heart now“, he commented.
The film ‘True North’, according to Sony, has been screened in more than 400 cinemas in 29 countries and will be available for rent and purchase starting this Friday, October 21, 2022.
