Organization Miss Vietnam apologizes for “transparent dress” of Miss

The organization behind the Miss Vietnam pageant has apologized for a dress worn by one of the former winners during the live broadcast. The dress was too see-through according to many viewers.

The model Phuong Anh was allowed to appear on stage again this year after coming second in the 2020 pageant. She was allowed to pass on her crown to the runner up from this year. But her outfit choice was not to the liking of many viewers.

Phuong Anh appeared on stage in a yellow dress, but the bright lighting made the dress appear see-through. On social media, many viewers expressed their displeasure with the dress. The organization therefore felt obliged to issue an official apology. “It is very unfortunate that an incident occurred with runner-up Pham Ngoc Phuong Anh’s outfit,” they said, in a statement shared by VnExpress. “The dress created an unflattering image on stage from certain angles. The organizers of Miss Vietnam 2022 apologize to the public and fans for not being able to prevent the incident.”

According to the organization, there was a rehearsal, but not all lights were switched on. As a result, the organization did not realize that the dress was perhaps a bit too transparent.

Phuong Anh herself stated that she felt embarrassed about her dress and that she had “learned her lesson” about her choice of outfit.
