Developing poetic taste is an educational goal

The Marrakesh Poetry House at the Guelmim Center organized the activities of the dialogue forum “Poetry and Education”, with the participation of a group of researchers. The forum included poetry readings, musical numbers, a symposium on teaching poetic text, an exhibition of the house’s publications and the Sharjah Department of Culture, and a ceremony honoring the critic Idris Al-Naqouri and the researcher Dr. Al-Azza Birok.

The director of the house, Abdul Haq Mifrani, confirmed that this dialogue forum constitutes an opportunity to approach the relationship of poetry with education, and an opportunity for researchers to explore the depths of this relationship and expand teaching methods for the poetic text, in a way that opens it up to the values ​​of poetry in their relationship with youth and the fields of education. For his part, the director of the center, Abdul Haq Mifrani, highlighted Galilee Shawqi, the importance of embracing this cultural forum, which constitutes an opportunity for male and female trainees to open horizons in order to think about the subject of teaching poetic text and developing aesthetic and taste education.

In an intervention on the importance of the presence of Hassani poetry in the educational system, researcher Al-Azza Biruk stressed the importance of including poetic poems in academic curricula, including Hassani poetry, to preserve it from extinction, calling on researchers and those interested to issue Hassani dictionaries, as well as research and excavate obscure poets and record their works in This field is in order to invest and benefit from it in study.

For his part, researcher Bouzid Laghali, in his intervention, focused on the possibility of drawing a road map for teaching Hassani poetry in educational and university institutions. In this regard, he touched on several features that characterize this poetry, including that it is attached to its environment, and that it created maps that include a topographical description of the desert terrain, as well as This poetry combines ritual (poetry performances) and narrative (narration of events), and the researcher pointed out that the key to studying Hassani poetry in educational and university institutions is to simplify its rules, especially since this poetry receives great attention from scientific institutions in Morocco and abroad.

As for the critic Dr. Murad Al-Metiwi, a researcher in communication and discourse analysis, he touched on the term “poetics,” the methods of receiving and teaching school poetic text, as well as the stages that a poem must pass through in order for the student to understand it and make him passionate about reading it. In the second part of his discussion, he touched on the difficulties that obstruct the teaching of poetic text, in light of the current educational system, which he called for to be reviewed in light of what we are witnessing today.

The researcher, Dr. Mahmoud Gedi, presented his intervention that sought to question the poetic text, which ranges between the artistic aesthetic and the teleological educational related to the goals of teaching first. This is because enabling students to appreciate poetic texts and produce in their style is an educational goal.
