Former employee sued Kanye West for discrimination and harassment

So far, West has not responded to the accusations made in the lawsuit.

A rapper Kanye West and his company has been sued for discrimination, harassment and threats of violence.

The lawsuit was reported by music magazines, among others Rolling Stone and Los Angeles Times. The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The lawsuit includes several allegations against West (who now goes by the name Ye), his clothing brand Yeezy, and the private Christian school he founded, Donda Academy.

The lawsuit has been filed by a man who worked for both the clothing brand and the school in 2022–2023. He demands compensation of at least 35,000 dollars, or about 32,000 euros.

Mies first worked for the Yeezy clothing brand, but when the partners broke up over West’s anti-Semitic comments, he was transferred to work at a school. According to the lawsuit, his last day of work was in August 2023.

According to the man, West harassed, humiliated and threatened him at the workplace on several occasions. West occasionally fired him on a whim, but soon brought him back to work.

West treated his black employees significantly worse than his white employees, the suit alleges. Dark-skinned people, for example, were shouted at and lectured.

In the lawsuit there are also wild claims about West’s speeches at Donda Academy, where the man’s child and younger brother studied. According to the lawsuit, West had told the two children that they should shave their heads bald and that a “jail” would be built at the school.

When the man had objected to West’s behavior, West had shouted and threatened him in front of the students and their parents.

West also talked to employees about his admiration for Hitler and his homophobia, the lawsuit alleges.

West or his companies have so far not responded to the accusations.

Donda Academy, which started operations in 2022, has been sued before: last summer, three of the school’s former teachers said he had unjustified dismissals after expressing concern about the school’s various problems.

It is currently unknown if the school is still in operation.
