Exhibition: Nikos Aliagas takes over Jumièges Abbey with his photos

It is this view that the department of Seine-Maritime sought to create a superb exhibition, entitled “The Spleen of Ulysses”, to be discovered until October 31 in the abbey house of the abbey of Jumièges, a mecca of the history of Normandy and the Vikings, whose slender ruins dominate a loop of the Seine. « In connection with the Armada (the great gathering of legendary sailboats, currently in Rouen), we wanted to explore the theme of travel and the sea. And Nikos’ work seemed to correspond to it,” underlines Sandra Prédine-Ballerie, the curator of this exhibition punctuated by verses from Homer’s “Odyssey”. With as a setting, these rooms with thick walls in which stones and sculptures combine, with skill, with the sixty black and white photos that can be discovered on two floors.
