Tehran attacks Israel: Natalie Amiri on Iran policy in Germany and the USA – Culture

When Iran attacked Israel with drones, Iranians reacted with a joke on social networks: “The journey is the destination,” it said in response to the images of the drones that were in the air for several hours on their way to the Holy Land. Sunday’s attack was the first direct attack that the Islamic Republic dared to carry out on the Jewish state. A novelty. A taboo break. An escalation. The saying about the unmanned missiles was explained in a little more detail in another post: Iran’s drones are unique among the world’s military technology, they believe that the journey should be enjoyed and reaching the goal is not that important. Including a picture of an Iranian-made drone that had gotten tangled up in a power pole – even though the picture was older, as it later turned out, the joker had a point: Not a single one of the 170 drones that Tehran sent out is in Israeli airspace arrived. 30 cruise missiles were also shot down, 25 of them outside the target country of Israel.
