The best-selling books in Sant Jordi 2024: Javier Castillo, Jol Dicker, Eduardo Mendoza, Marian Rojas Estap…

Javier Castillo Eduardo Mendoza, Gabriel García Márquez, Ramón Gener and Eva Baltasar are some of the authors with best-selling fiction books on this day of Saint George, in which the good weather and the coincidence with a working day have allowed a good sales trend.

According to the trends pointed out by the Chamber of Books, in novels in Spanish, the best-selling books have been, although not in this order, ‘La rift of silence’ (Suma), by Javier Castillo; ‘A wild animal’ (Alfaguara), by Jol Dicker; ‘Three enigmas for the Organization’ (Seix Barral), by Eduardo Mendoza; ‘See you in August’ (Random House), by Gabriel Garca Mrquez; and ‘Blackwater I. The flood’ (Blackie Books), by Michael McDowell.

In fiction in Catalan, the best-selling works have been, as already predicted, ‘Histria d’un piano’ (Columna), by Ramon Gener; ‘A wild animal’ (La Campana), by Jol Dicker; ‘Learn to dodge bullets’ (La Campana), by Xavi Coral; ‘Ocs i fascinaci’ (Club Editor), by Eva Baltasar; and ‘Blackwater I. The flood’ (Blackie Books), by Michael McDowell.

In non-fiction books in Spanish, the winners of Book Day in Catalonia have been ‘Recover your mind, reconquer your life’ (Espasa), by Marian Rojas Estap; ‘Habitos atomicos’ (Diana), of James Clear; ‘Anatomy of Evil’ (B), by Jordi Wild; ‘The problem of being too good’ (Harp), by Xavier Guix; and ‘Your health starts here’ (Grijalbo), from Xevi Verdaguer

In the essays in Catalan, the ranking would be headed by the books ‘La teva salut comena aquí’ (Rosa dels Vents), by Xevi Verdaguer; ‘Tor: Foc encs’ (The Bell), by Carles Porta; ‘Cream!’ (Column), de Maria Nicolau; ‘Ments preclares’ (La Vanguardia), by Quim Monz; and ‘Three months of vacation’ (Rosa dels Vents), by Neus Rossell

As for children’s and young people’s books, the best sellers have been ‘Jo primer’ (El Cep i la Nansa), by Mriam Tirado; ‘The mysterious and surprising grandfather’s house’ (Combel), by Meritxell Mart Orriols; ‘Porn is NOT cool’ (Montena), by Anna Salvia and Cristina Torrn-Menstruita; ‘The legend of Sant Jordi de Roba’ (Estrella Polar), by Marta Garcia Prez; and ‘The Legend of Sant Jordi’ (Polar Star), by Natlia Juan.

And in Spanish, ‘Maker of tears’, by Erin Doom; and ‘Player number 12’, from Kings League (both in Montena); ‘Wings of Blood’ and ‘Wings of Iron’, by Rebecca Yarros; and ‘All the places we kept secret’, from Inma Rubiales (these three on Planet).

This list of titles, which does not represent an order in any of the categories, has been obtained according to estimates from the member bookstores of the Booksellers Guild of Catalonia during this Tuesday until 6 p.m.and with the information for the week of Sant Jordi collected by LibriRed, an automated system that obtains data from points of sale throughout Catalonia, including independent bookstores and bookstore chains.

Tomorrow the Guild will offer a list with machine sales data of the establishments and a ranking of titles, and in a press release that will be published on Monday, April 29, the last list will be included, which will already include the sales data of the stops. The Catalan Book Chamber is made up of the guilds and associations of publishers, booksellers, distributors and graphic communications in Catalonia.
