Death of filmmaker Laurent Cantet, director of “Entre les Murs” and “Arthur Rambo”, at 63

He won a Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2008. French director Laurent Cantet died this Thursday at the age of 63, his agent announced to AFP, confirming information from Libération.

“He died this morning in Paris of illness,” Isabelle de la Patellière told AFP. The director was working on a film project, titled “The Apprentice”, which was due to be released in 2025.

The filmmaker was known for his film “Entre les Murs”, half-documentary, half-fiction, which delved into the daily life of a class in a Parisian college. The feature film won an award at the 61st Cannes Film Festival.
