The musical of Alicia KeysHell’s Kitchen and the work inspired by the rock of the 70s Stereophonic lead the nominations for the premios Tony 2024the highest awards in American theater, followed by The Outsiders, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club y Appropiate.
The nominations, announced by the committee of the premios Tony on Tuesday, they have also fallen on Merrily We Roll Along, Water for Elephants, Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch y Suffs.
Winners will be announced at a June 16 ceremony that also marks the 77th anniversary of the awards honoring Broadway talent.
Hell’s Kitchen y Stereophonic have received 13 nominations each, along with The Outsiders based on the young adult novel by S. E. Hinton from 1967 and the film adaptation of Francis Ford Coppola of 1983, they received 12 and Cabaret at the Kit Kat Cluba revival of the 1966 musical, have earned nine.
The nominees for best theatrical actor are William Jackson Harper, Leslie Odom Jr., Liev Schreiber, Jeremy Strong y Michael Stuhlbarg while the nominees for best actor in a musical are Brody Grant, Jonathan Groff, Dorian Harewood, Brian d’Arcy James y Eddie Redmayne.
For their part, the candidates for best theatrical actress are Betsy Aidem, Jessica Lange, Rachel McAdams, Sarah Paulson y Amy Ryan. The nominees for best actress in a musical are Eden Espinosa, Maleah Joi Moon, Kelly O’Hara, Maryann Plunkett y Gayle Rankin.
The event, in Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts from New York City, feature host actress Ariana DeBose and will be transmitted by CBS y Paramount+according to the committee.
