Chanel will return to Eurovision to perform on the first day of the festival on May 7 in Malmö (Sweden)

The singer and representative of Spain in Eurovision 2022, Chanel, will perform as a guest in the first Eurovision semi-final in Malmö (Sweden) next Tuesday, May 7, along with two colleagues who also participated in the contest, Eleni Foureira, representative of Cyprus in 2018 and Eric Saade, from Sweden in 2011.

Chanel, Eleni Foureira and Eric Saade, accompanied by 24 dancers, will perform and represent on stage the slogan “United by music” of this 68th edition of Eurovision, which is held this year on the 7th and 9th (semifinals) and Saturday the 11th (the final), according to RTVE, which highlights that the presence of the three artists who participated in Eurovision in previous editions “demonstrates” how their participation in the contest has allowed them to consolidate their careers.

They will demonstrate “how artists who go through the most important musical competition in the world can have great careers, since the three obtained a large number of followers around the world after representing their countries in the Song Festival without needing to win the contest,” RTVE points out.

According to the director and scriptwriter of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, Edward af Sillén, they want to “start this year’s edition with a great pop number that shows Sweden’s immense love for this competition and demonstrates how we are all united by the music. Three fantastic live artists from all corners of Eurovision, who may not have won gold, but who won the hearts of the audience. This number will raise the bar all week and we hope the audience will love it. “.

Chanel was the winner of the inaugural Benidorm Fest and at the 2022 Turin Eurovision Song Contest she placed third with her song SloMo. The song gave Spain the highest score of all time: 459 points, thus achieving the best result in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1995.

RTVE indicates that since her Eurovision debut, Chanel has achieved more successes in Spain, with artists such as Loka and Clavaíto, the latter surpassing the 100 million mark on Spotify. In January 2024, Chanel released her debut album ¡Agua!, which reached number one in Spain.

Eleni Foureira finished runner-up in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with her song Fuego and gave Cyprus its best result to date and also its highest score, with 436 points to achieve second place. Since her stay in Lisbon, she has released an album, an EP and has achieved great hits such as Temperatura, Oh Mami and El Telefono.

For his part, Eric Saade won a bronze medal for Sweden in the 2011 Contest with his song Popular turned out. Since the Eurovision Song Contest, Eric has released three albums, toured Scandinavia extensively and even participated in the Festival the last time it was in Malmö, in 2013, when he hosted the Green Room.
