Sensational exhibition by Christoph Büchel at the Fondazione Prada in Venice – Culture

It’s the hidden sensation of the Venice Biennale summer: Christoph Büchel’s bankrupt pawn shop at Prada. From the outside, only a few small posters next to the entrance and jetty of the magnificent palace on the Grand Canal indicate the sale. “Liquidazione totale! Fuori tutto!!” is there in signal colors. But these signs, like those that are usually stuck to dysfunctional boutiques or mattress warehouses, do not prepare anyone for what awaits in this insolvent pawn shop: thousands upon thousands of exhibits from weapons to sleazy books, from battered junk to the real Titian, from archaeological finds to a pallet of sanitary ware, plus rusty bicycles, diamonds, framed items from the Pope to nudes to war bonds, historical coins, watches, mopeds, guitars, dust collectors, fashion, mattresses and, and, and.
