Hilary Duff gave birth to her daughter in a water birth – the fourth of the star’s children, who is married to singer and creator Matthew Koma. 36-year-old Duff, forever Lizzie McGuire, announced today (Tuesday) on her Instagram account about the birth, alongside photos from the unique moment that took place in what looked like a pool. “Now we know why she made us wait so long, she included those cheeks,” Duff wrote.
“I dreamed of holding you in my arms for months, and the last five days of knowing you, staring at you and smelling you, were pure moments of magic. We all love you as if you were always here, beautiful,” added the new mother.
The youngest daughter in the family joined her older brothers. Duff and Koma share two daughters, ages 2½ and 5, and Duff’s 11-year-old eldest son with ex-husband Mike Comrie. Last December, Duff announced she was expecting a little one when she shared an annual, family Christmas card that included a photo of her cradling her pregnant belly.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine in 2021, shortly after giving birth to her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Duff said about mothers: “I have help, but babies just want their mother.” She later added that she is “so in love with all my children, I love when they are all full of energy and the house is buzzing. You never know what the day will bring or what your child will say.”
