Yle: Monaco's Court of Appeal will not hear Yle's editor-in-chief's defamation suit – Kulttuuri

of Monaco the appeals court has announced that it will not take Yle’s editor-in-chief into consideration Jouko Jokinen defamation lawsuit, says Yle on their website. According to Yle, the court has stated in its decision that it has no jurisdiction to deal with Jokinen’s defamation charge and the claim for damages against Yle.

The lawsuit against Yle and Joki had been filed by a Russian businessman Vladimir Kasyanenko. The lawsuit concerned four stories published by Yle in 2022, in which it was said that Kasyanenko had connections with the Russian president Vladimir Putinto the Kremlin and the Russian state.

Yle’s stories dealt with the Helsinki shipyard that Kasjanenko had bought. Today, the shipyard is owned by the Canadian company Davie.
