Hanoi noted two measles deaths as a 4 -year -old girl treated at the National Hospital of Pediatrics and a man who was treated at Bach Mai Hospital. Both have many complications due to many background diseases.
Hanoi CDC said the number of measles cases has not tended to decrease. It is forecasted that the number of cases will continue to increase and tend to increase in groups over 6 years old. The Ministry of Health also recorded from the beginning of the year until now more than 54,000 measles cases in all localities. The cause of the measles outbreak is due to the disease in the epidemic cycle every 5 years and the progress of vaccination is slower than the rate of spread.
In order to respond to measles, the Ministry of Health promotes vaccinations for children from 6 to under 9 months of age in 54 provinces and cities, instead of waiting for full 9 months of age.
