Orna and Moshe Detz donated their son Omer’s organs for transplantation
A noble contribution in the shadow of the tragedy: Orna and Moshe Detz, the parents of the actor and singer Omer who passed away under tragic circumstances on Friday, agreed to donate his organs for transplantation to save others. From his body, only the corneas of his eyes that were removed and implanted in patients who lost their eyesight were found suitable for transplantation. The sad episode happened last Friday, when Omar, an epileptic, was found lifeless. It is still unclear what caused his death, and death from an epileptic seizure itself is extremely rare today. His parents wanted to maintain the privacy of the family and did not reveal details about the circumstances of the disaster.

Omar’s funeral was held at the Nachalat Yitzhak cemetery in Givatayim. The family asked to maintain their privacy and the media were forbidden to cover the funeral, which was defined as private.

Omar was a resident of Givatayim and a theater major at Thelma Yelin High School. After serving in a military band, he continued his studies at Yoram Levinstein’s acting school. He made his big breakthrough in the first season of the show “The Next Star”. Later he played in the Bhima Theater and the Meditech Theater with the “Children of the Tree House”.

Detz’s death shocked the industry. Hani Nahmias, Moshe Datz’s best friend, wrote: “Omer Datz is gone. A great break and an abysmal sadness. May your memory be blessed, a beautiful and talented boy.”

Yuli Weizman, the daughter of Michal Hattana, Orna Detz’s best friend, wrote in a story she uploaded: “Omer, what a pain. Ever since I’ve known myself, I’ve grown up with you. We’re all heartbroken. An amazing family, you’ll never know any more sorrow. I love you.”

Maayan Adam, who lost her sister Mefel at the Nova party on Black Sabbath, wrote: “I’ve been searching for words for an hour. This week Moshe Detz was a guest on my show, hugged and participated in my grief, when only heaven knows that they are going to fall on him and make him a sad and broken person for the rest of his life. The only words I have to say Do everything as if there is no tomorrow. Love, dedicate yourself, live strong, fulfill and don’t give up a single moment. Because there may very well be no tomorrow.”
