Long AnA 20-year-old patient was operating a straw rolling machine when his arm suddenly got crushed, forcing the doctor to cut and shape the stump.
The victim was taken to receive first aid at a medical facility near his workplace, then taken to Xuyen A Long An General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Doctor Nguyen Tuan Khanh, Head of the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics, said the young man was admitted to the hospital a week ago in a crushed state from the lower 1/3 of his arm to his forearm. His hands and fingers were purple and unable to move. Okay.
After examination and CT scan, the doctor noted that the patient completely severed the upper 1/3 of the left brachial artery, severed blood vessels and nerves, and crushed the lower part of the humerus and forearm.
Doctors consulted and decided to amputate the limb to save the patient’s life. The team investigated, cut out the crushed area, cleaned it many times with water and cut the edge of the skin to shape the stump of the lower 1/3 of the left arm.
After surgery, patients are closely monitored and strictly controlled for infection in the wound with high doses of antibiotics and daily wound care. Currently, he has been discharged from the hospital.
